The Ministry of Foreign Affairs answered the address of human rights defenders concerning the registration of the death convict Vasil Yuzepchuk’s communication by the UN Human Rights Committee.

‘We inform you that the official note of the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights concerning the registration of the individual communication on behalf of Yuzepchuk V.L. has been submitted to the competent state organs,’ is stated in the MFA answer, signed by the deputy minister S.Aleinik.

Reception of the note has been confirmed by a number of addressees including the Department of Penalty Execution of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

‘We inform you that the Ministry of Internal Affairs has been informed by the competent state organs about the consideration of the complaint on behalf of the convict Yuzepchuk V.L. at the UN Human Rights Committee,’ stated the first deputy head Yu.Barynkou.

Bear in mind that among the addressees of the address of the human rights defenders there are MFA, MIA, the Office of Prosecutor General and the Presidential Administration.

As said by the member of the Human Rights Center Viasna Valiantsin Stefanovich at the press-conference of 10 November in Minsk, this week representatives of the Belarusian human rights community also submitted to these state organs a similar address on Andrei Zhuk’s case.
