Animated film “Executioner” to be shown at “Cinema Perpetuum Mobile 2014”

The animated film “Executioner”, created by a group of volunteers of the Human Rights Center "Viasna" in the campaign "Human Rights Defenders against the death penalty" was selected for display at the International Short Film Festival "Cinema Perpetuum Mobile" (Cinema Perpetuum Mobile in 2014).

The movies will be shown not only in Minsk, but also in other regional centers and major cities of Belarus. Activities will also take place outside of the country as a partnership with the Belarusian cultural communities and other cinema festivals. Thus, the presentation of this program will be held in the cities of Russia, Ukraine, Poland, Lithuania, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, Romania, Turkey, Iran, Malaysia, Australia and other countries. April 12, “Executioner” will be the first Belarusian film to be shown abroad within the framework of the festival (in Georgetown, Malaysia).

Executioner”, directed by Daniil Zhudzgda, puts before the audience a question about the life and fate of those people who sometimes live near us and at the same time doing their job professionally, working as "executioners" of the death penalty. The protagonist executed a death sentence in the past. Now his memories keep returning to this event. The main character is a creative person, so he tries to sublimate the experience in composing music, but is incapable of totally gettting rid of the mental suffering.

The Human Rights Center "Viasna" opposes the death penalty in all cases without exception.

Cinema Perpetuum Mobile in 2014 is a social project that is created by people on the principles of self-organization, mutual openness, transparency and decentralization. This means that anyone can take part in a common effort for the organization of the festival and observe how others do it.
