Two death convicts, Aliaksei Mikhalenia and Viktar Liotau, have been recently executed, according to Viachaslau Sukharko, another death row inmate whose appeal was heard today at the Supreme Court.

On the night of May 15 to 16, Mikhalenia and Liotau were taken out of their cell and never returned, Sukharko said during today’s hearing. They were definitely executed, he concluded.

The three shared the same cell on death row in detention center No. 1 in Minsk, despite the fact that Sukharko’s verdict has not yet entered into legal force.

Viachaslau Sukharko was sentenced to death for three counts of murder in 2015. He chose not to appeal against the death sentence, but was brought to the courtroom together with his accomplice Aliaksandr Zhylnikau, who was also sentenced to death.

Aliaksei Mikhalenia was sentenced to death for the murder of two people. Viktar Liotau was convicted in September 2017 by the Viciebsk Regional Court for killing his cellmate in the penal colony.
