Death convict Dzmitry Kanavalau refuses to file pardon appeal

25-year-old Dzmitry Kanavalau, sentenced to death for terrorism, considered his sentence legal and refused to file an appeal for pardon. This has been stated by BelaPAN with a reference to General Prosecutor Aliaksandr Kaniuk. Let us remind you, the Vitsebsk native was accused of Minsk metro terrorist act and a series of other blasts. He has been sentenced to death.


According to Kaniuk, Kanavalau told about his refusal to the special commission back on 19 December. The General Prosecutor says that Kanavalau was reminded that he had a right to file an appeal for pardon twice, and both times he refused.

The other figurant of the case, Uladzislau Kavaliou, also sentenced to death, filed an appeal for pardon in December 2011.
