Invitation to the presentation of the sociological research “Crime and Punishment in the Eyes of the Society”

On the eve of the World day against Death Penalty at the initiative of the Moscow office of Penal Reform International (Penal Reform International) in Minsk a presentation of the survey “Crime and Punishment in the Eyes of the Society” was presented.

The institution held an extensive survey of the population aged between 18 and 75 years old, men and women living in the capital, provincial towns, district centers and villages, believers and atheists, who believe that they have enough money or vice versa.

All of these people have answered a number of questions concerning the death penalty,
the causes of crime and aggression in the society, the presumption of innocence, the discrimination, the judicial system and the media.

Answered ... And thus asked more questions.

Why do people think that the media
almost don't cover the topic of the death penalty?

What
is worse: to condemn an innocent man or release a guilty one?

What
are youths guided by: cruelty or rationality?

Why do
n't we think about the pain of relatives of the executed?

Why do we tend to tolerate some things and do not forgive others?

Why is there more common between the villages and the capital than between the citizens of the district and regional capitals?

It is very important for us that you should familiarize with this survey and raise many of these topics in your publications.
