Issue of the death penalty discussed in the regions
Activists of the campaign “Human Rights Defenders against the Death Penalty in Belarus” are trying to change the information vacuum, which, according to sociological studies, still accompanies the issue of the death penalty in our country.
These, together with regional representatives of the Human Rights Center "Viasna" and other activists of civil society movements, have arranged a number of discussions on this pressing issue.
A similar meeting was recently held in Rechytsa, Homel region, and last weekend the death penalty issue was discussed in Mazyr and Minsk.
The discussions were attended by an expert, coordinator of the campaign "Human Rights Defenders against the Death Penalty in Belarus" Andrei Paluda.
The human rights defender spoke about the activities of the campaign, speaking of such aspects as the irreversibility of the punishment and providing strong arguments against the death penalty, as well as the statistics of executions in Belarus.
