Cassation appeal of Homel citizen convicted to death to be considered on 18 October
The
consideration of the cassation appeal of the death convict Aliaksandr
Hrunou will take place at the panel of judges on criminal cases of
the Supreme Court on 18 October 2013.
Though
he pleaded guilty in the murder of a girl, the Homel citizen who was
sentenced to death didn't agree to the verdict and filed a cassation
appeal through his lawyer. Aliaksandr Hrunou believes that the court
was to have taken into consideration his confession of guilt and
cooperation with the investigation.
The youngster also intends
to apply to the UN Human Rights Committee and has already composed
the appropriate powers of attorney in the name of his mother and the
Homel human rights defender Leanid Sudalenka, participant of the
campaign “Human rights defenders against the death penalty in
Belarus”.
Bear in mind that on 14 June 2013 the Homel
Regional Court issued a death verdict to the 25-year-old Homel
resident Aliaksandr Hrunou for the murder of a Natallia
Yemelyanchykava, a student of the Hrodna State University.
Aliasandr
Hrunou pleaded guilty at the trial.
