“Viasna” presents a special web-page about the death penalty
At present the Human
Rights Center "Viasna " offers its readers a separate web
page with the latest news and archival information gathered as a part
of the campaign "Human Rights Defenders against the death
penalty in Belarus": dp.spring96.org.
Simple
and easy navigation will help the visitors quickly find the
information structured in sections and available in four languages
- Belarusian, Russian,
Polish and English.
Clicking
on this link, http://dp.spring96.org,
anyone can sign a petition addressed to the Belarusian authorities to
abolish the death penalty.
Among the permanent columns are:
"News", "Persons”,
(addresses and statements of well-known
public figures of Belarus and other countries who joined the campaign
of human rights defenders), “Videos” (documentary
and animated films, music videos and
video clips created by the
campaign) and "Photo" (photos from events and activities
held during the campaign).
Moreover,
the web-page contains visual attributes of
the campaign "Human Rights Defenders against the death penalty
in Belarus" – banners, layouts of
stickers, posters, postcards, prints on
T-shirts and badges.
Bear in mind
that the campaign “Human
Rights Defenders against the death penalty in Belarus” has been
held since 2009 with the aim to put
an end to the
use of the death
penalty in the country and foster the
accession of Belarus to the European values. Belarus remains
the only country in Europe to adjudicate and to carry out
executions.
