Pavel Seviarynets: the system can punish innocent people with death

Co-chairman of the
Belarusian Christian Democracy Pavel Seviarynets strongly opposes the
death penalty, as well as other leaders of the party. Although not
all members of the party advocate the abolition of the death penalty,
says Pavel Seviarynets:
“We are against the death penalty,
especially under the current system. After all, the current system
can charge and punish any person, even completely innocent. We saw
the example of the case of Kanavalau and Kavaliou. It is still
unclear what Kavaliou was killed for.
A Week against the
Death Penalty is held in Belarus within the framework of the campaign
"Human Rights Defenders against the Death Penalty in Belarus",
launched in 2009. The company's goal is the abolition of the death
penalty in the country and the accession of Belarus to the European
values.
