A discussion on the issue of the death penalty in Belarus took place on October 12 in Rechytsa, Homel region. It was organized by local representative of the Human Rights Center "Viasna" Valery Putitski.
Expert contribution was made by coordinator of the campaign "Human Rights Defenders against the Death Penalty" Andrei Paluda.
The human rights activist spoke about the activities of the campaign, the irreversibility of the punishment, referring to the main arguments against the death penalty and citing the statistics of the death penalty.
Local civil society activists and representatives of political parties were able to ask their questions and share their views on the topic of discussion.
