Death convict Lykau’s appeal to be heard on 15 April
It has become known that the cassation appeal in the case of Eduard Lykau, who was sentenced to death, will be considered by the judicial board for criminal cases of the Supreme Court on April 15. The hearing will open at 9.30 a.m.
A 53-year-old Eduard Lykau was convicted of five episodes of murder committed while intoxicated. The death penalty verdict was handed down by the Minsk Regional Court on November 26, 2013. However, Lykau has been under investigation since 2011.
Investigative and judicial authorities reported Lykau’s case only after the information was spread by human rights defenders of the HRC "Viasna". Until then, neither prosecutors nor the Investigative Committee, or the Minsk Regional Court had informed the public about the case.
