Supreme Court dismisses appeal of Kavaliou's relatives
According to the responce signed by Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Court Andrei Zabara, the decisions of the Kastrychnitski District Court of Minsk and the Civil Division of the Minsk City Court according to which the consideration of such appeals is beyond their powers are left in force. In their appeal to the Supreme Court Liubou Kavaliova and Tatsiana Kaziar demanded that the Supreme Court abolished the decisions of the Kastrychnitski District Court of Minsk and the Civil Division of the Minsk City not to instigate civil proceedings against the KGB, MIA and the Department of Corrections for a refusal to provide information on the place of burial of Mr. Kavaliou.
The Supreme Court believes that there is a difference procedure of appealing against the refusal to provide information about the place of burial of Uladzislau Kavaliou. Hoowever, the Criminal-Executive Code of the Republic of Belarus doesn't provide any other order. There are no more opportunities to find about the place of burial of her executed son. Nevertheless, according to a lawyer and human rights defender Raman Kisel, Kavaliou's relatives intend to continue struggling for the disclosure of the place of his burial. They believe that the charges of committing a terrorist act in the Minsk metro in 2011 and the death sentence were unfair and unreasonable. They also consider inhumane the refusal of the Belarusian authorities to let them bury him.
