Authorities keep torturing death convict’s mother (PHOTOS)

- Prison uniform of death convict Aliaksandr Hrunou
Volha Hrunova, the mother of Aliaksandr Hrunou, who was executed on October 22, 2014 for the murder of his friend Natallia Yemialyianchykava, has received his prison uniform. It was after receiving the package that the death convict’s mother realized that the death sentence was carried out.
The prison uniform has an inscription in white letters “ИМН” («исключительная мера наказания», an exceptional measure of punishment). In Belarus, the relatives receive the uniform after the execution.
Human rights activists consider sending a prison uniform as a continuation of the inhuman treatment of the family of the executed person. “Meanwhile, their notes, diaries and other personal belongings are not returned to the relatives,” says Andrei Paluda, coordinator of the campaign “Human Rights Defenders against the Death Penalty in Belarus”. “The category of “personal belongings” does not include the clothing, which is provided by the state”.
Bodies of executed prisoners are not given to relatives for burial. The place of burial is not disclosed.
