Salihorsk joins “Cities for Life – Cities Against Death Penalty” action
Salihorsk human rights activist have joined the annual action “Cities for Life – Cities Against Death Penalty”, held by the Catholic community of Sant'Egidio.
“Back in 1786, residents of the Italian principality of Tuscany that the death penalty is not a means of ending the violence, but rather the cult of violence. On realizing that they abolished this inhuman form of punishment,: says local human rights activist Aliaksei Valabuyeu. “In our country, unfortunately, the state continues to kill people. Hopefully, this action will foster changes in consciousness of our society and ruling elites.”
Salihorsk human rights activists urge all concerned citizens to join actions against the death penalty and sign the Petition against the death penalty in Belarus.
