Another death verdict expected in Homiel
The body of a young mother with numerous stab wounds was found in the yard of a private house in Rečyca, Homiel region. The police are investigating the murder. Local human rights defender Leanid Sudalenka says the gravity of the crime resembles that committed by Aliaksandr Hrunou, who was executed last year. Therefore, he does not rule out a new death verdict.
The incident was reported by the BelTA government-owned news agency, with reference to the Homiel regional department of the Investigative Committee. It is known that a suspect has already been arrested and investigators are working with him. The motive for the murder is not yet known.
The Criminal Code of Belarus prohibits applying the death penalty to under-aged criminals, women and men who have turned sixty-five years old.
