Two persons face death verdicts in Homieĺ
The Homieĺ Regional Court has started hearing criminal charges of triple murder brought against two Romanies of Žlobin, Aliaksandr and Rubina, both 23, accused of killing three relatives in October last year.
Aliaksandr is facing a death sentence, while Rubina may be sentenced to 25 years in prison, since the Belarusian legislation does not provide for the death penalty for women.
The defendants asked to hear the charges behind closed doors.
The Investigation Committee has completed investigating another criminal case against 33-year-old man accused of raping and murdering two women in 2014 and 2015.
He has been charged under Part 2, Art. 139 (murder), Part 1 and Part 2, Article 166 (rape), Part 2, Article 167 (sexual assault), Part 1, Art. 182 (kidnapping), and Part 1 and Part 2, Art. 205 (theft) of the Criminal Code. The case file has been sent to the court. The man is facing the death penalty.
