Viasna and FIDH to present report “Death Penalty in Belarus: Murder on (Un)Lawful Grounds”
On October 5, the Human Rights Center “Viasna” and the International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH) will present a joint report “Death Penalty in Belarus: Murder on (Un)Lawful Grounds”. The event will be held within the framework of the Week against the Death Penalty.
The presentation will feature the following speakers:
Jim Couzens, Deputy Head of European Union’s Mission in Belarus;
Andrei Paluda, coordinator of the campaign “Human Rights Defenders against the Death Penalty in Belarus”;
Sasha Koulaeva, FIDH’s Head of Eastern Europe/Central Asia Desk;
Florence Bellivier, Professor of Law, Deputy Secretary General of FIDH, former president of the World Coalition Against the Death Penalty.
The event will be hosted by the Press Club at the address: 3-601, vulica Viery Charužaj. Beginning at 11-00.

The presentation is the central event in a series of activities arranged in the framework of the Week Against the Death Penalty, which is held annually by the Human Rights Defenders against the Death Penalty in Belarus from 5 to 10 October on the eve of the World Day against the Death Penalty.
